Chasse Gardee by Carven c1950

Chasse Gardée by Carven: launched in 1950. Created by Yuri Gutsatz.

This third Carven perfume was released in September 1950 in Biarritz, on the occasion of a gala chaired by King Farouk of Egypt, in a very pleasing tumult of packs of dogs and hunting horns. This fragrance evokes the undergrowth and symbolizes the splendor of the hunt.

Fragrance Composition:

So what does it smell like? It is classified as a spicy floral oriental fragrance for women with a prominent spice note on an ambery base. The mosses of barbarian oaks, the saps of bare-kidneyed ash trees and lively skinned birches, the vanilla flowers of acacias, all associated with a green smell of wet grass.
  • Top notes: sap, acacia, almond, lavender, bergamot, berries, green leaves, berries
  • Middle notes: meadowsweet, fern, spices, honeysuckle, holly leaves, jasmine, rose
  • Base notes: ash, oak, birch bark, vanilla, vetiver, Barbary oakmoss, ambergris, musk, sandalwood

Combat, 1954:
"Eau Chausse Gardee de Carven - leaves, moss, wild berries, sometimes bitter and sometimes spicy, from the forest copses, flow in this singularly stimulating water, with the almost insinuated aroma of honeysuckle, which climbs the trunks of the oaks fragrant, rising above the flowering herbs of almond-scented meadowsweet, coral-beaded holly, thorny gorse and wandering ferns. Exotic wood essences add their mysterious aromas to this exhalation of the domain where the hares, at home, digging their burrows."

Combat, 1955:
"Chasse Gardee (eau de cologne with perfume) by Carven - we dream, in the heart of summer, of the freshness of the wet forests of autumn, while inhaling this tuft of leaves, mosses, bark and wild berries, where the 'exquisite marivauding aroma of forked honeysuckle climbs among pearly coral hollies and wandering ferns."
