Vert et Blanc by Carven c1958

Vert et Blanc by Carven: launched in 1958. Expressly created for the Universal Exhibition in Brussels held in 1958. Vert et Blanc "green and white" in French, was Madame Carven's signature colors.

Fragrance Composition:

So what does it smell like? It is classified as a dry, green, floral-chypre fragrance for women. It begins with a fresh, green citrus top of bergamot and galbanum, accented with sparkling aldehydes and cinnamon, followed by a heart of narcissus, violet, iris, heliotrope, reseda, hyacinth, jasmine and rose with an ambery dry down warmed with mosses, musk and sandalwood.
  • Top notes: sweet pea, bergamot, hyacinth, reseda, narcissus, peony, aldehydes, galbanum, cinnamon, clary sage, almond blossom
  • Middle notes: lily of the valley, violet, heliotrope, iris, lily, jasmine absolute, ylang-ylang, gardenia, rose absolute, tuberose
  • Base notes: patchouli, vetiver, privet, tonka bean, sandalwood, ambergris, vetiver, styrax, oakmoss, labdanum, musk and benzoin.

Combat, 1958:
"Subtle, composed of light or powerful floral essences rounded and fixed by natural amber, and warmed by notes of sandalwood and patchouli, this head-turning perfume was adopted by the radiant Princess of Monaco. Its audacity, its persistence and the climate it creates, make it the ideal perfume for today's woman."

L'Art et la mode, 1966
"As for "Vert et Blanc", which appeared in 1958, it has rightly been said that it is a shock perfume: the delicacy of its note is in harmony with a rare power and its hold is particularly remarkable; another element of success, it leaves an incomparable wake. At the outlet of the bottle, "Vert et Blanc" pleases with a happy combination of floral notes, not used before, and the absolute of jasmine and rose. After a few moments, an animal note rises amber and warm, without any heaviness."

  1. VERT ET BLANC era o perfume usado por Clarice Lispector. Ela afirma isso em de seus livros de contos infantis mais lidos (A vida íntima de Laura).
